Some days are rougher than others for black America, and I think yesterday was one of the roughest in a while. If I could get my “Little-Known Black History Fact” research team to do some investigating, I’d love to know the first national news story involving black folks that caused a collective, “Oh, Lord,” to be uttered. You all know what I’m talking about – an incident that no matter what your politics, your economic status or your religious affiliation, you felt hurt, despair and even a tinge of betrayal because even though you may have had no personal connection, there was an unspoken kinship between you and the person or people being accused.
