Houston police are searching for a suspect who eluded capture following a chase in northwest Houston late Sunday.

An HPD unit spotted a car speeding on Clay Rd at Eldridge Parkway around 11:15 p.m. The officer attempted to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop.

Police said the car headed eastbound on Clay, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour at times, and ran multiple red lights. The car continued to Shadowdale, north to Bridgeland, then east to Stanford, where the driver hopped out and fled on foot.

HPD set up a perimeter, used a K-9 unit and a helicopter, but could not find the suspect.

The abandoned car, which police said did not appear to be stolen, was towed from the scene.

Police do not know why the suspect, who was still at large as of Monday morning, fled.
