Authorities are offering a reward for information leading to the capture of Michael Elbert Young who escaped from the Southeast Texas Transitional Facility last Thursday. A $7,500 reward is being offered for any information on the whereabouts of Young who is considered a high-risk sex offender. According to reports, Young was released from prison after completing a 20-year sentence for attempted aggravated sexual assault. He had only been at the transitional facility for about a week before he escaped.

Additional details indicate that Young has an extensive criminal history in Harris County that dates back as early as April 1987. Then, Young was accused of stopping a woman on a street and putting a knife to her throat. Authorities say that he may be mentally unstable as a result of not taking prescribed medication and may be armed and dangerous. Young reportedly has a a sixth-grade education and it is believed that he has family members and friends that live in the Houston area.
