A Montgomery County community is coming together for the grieving family of Kala Golden Schuchardt. Schuchardt was shot dead last week after leaving a pediatric facility with her newborn son. A benefit was held in her honor on Saturday in Willis. Verna McClain is accused of snatching Schuchardt’s three-day-old son out of her arms and shooting Schuchardt dead in the parking lot of Northwoods Pediatric Center.

Baby Keegan who was not injured, was reportedly kidnapped by McClain. On Saturday, hundreds of volunteers turned out to donate their time, energies, efforts, belongings and money to Schuchardt’s children. In addition to Baby Keegan, Schuchardt has two other sons. The father of the boys, Keith Schuchardt has been spending time with his children and reports indicate that he hopes to have full custody of his three sons some time this week. McClain is charged with capital murder.
