The family of an expectant father and aspiring rapper is seeking answers and justice after he is gunned down in an attempt to chase off would-be car thieves.

According to published reports, 20-year-old David Kelly was attempting to prevent thieves from stealing his girlfriend’s car. The vehicle was parked at the Kimberly Pointe apartments in the 300 block of Airtex Drive. Additional reports indicate that the family of Kelly said that Kelly and his brothers were inside their apartment when they realized that the would-be thieves were attempting to steal the vehicle of LaQuiesha McBride.

The brothers ran outside to chase after the suspects and then the brothers separated from one other. Gun shots were then heard in the distance. Then, Kelly’s brothers found him lying face down in the street. One brother of Kelly’s ran over to him reportedly telling him to get up. The brother then saw blood on Kelly’s back as well as his head. At the time of this report, police were still searching for the suspects.

Kelly’s girlfriend LaQuiesha McBride is pregnant and she and Kelly were looking forward to the birth of their baby girl. Kelly was also an aspiring rapper who has his music featured on the Internet.

Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
