SWAT officers spent several hours negotiating with a man to the surrender who reportedly barricaded himself inside a home near downtown Houston. According to reports, it turns out the suspect allegedly slept through most of the ordeal.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of Saturday just after 3:00 a.m. The scene of the incident was located on Morris at Quitman. Investigators stated that a 25-year-old suspect fired shots from a pistol and a rifle. The suspect also reportedly shot at his wife’s feet at one point, but she was not hit.

Police said the man’s wife took off and has not been seen. Upon several hours of negotiation by SWAT officials, they then learned that the suspect had fallen asleep.

The man peacefully surrendered after awakening from his sleep and was taken into custody without incident. He reportedly faces charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
