A rather disturbing discovery is made this morning (Friday) at a local waste facility when a worker finds a body in a load of trash. Houston homicide investigators were called to the W-C-A Waste Corporation’s Ruffino Hills Transfer station in southwest Houston shortly after 3 am.
WCA spokesperson Mike Roy says 11 trucks had just deposited their loads at the site and the body was found as an operator was moving the waste to a transfer trailer for final disposal. Roy says all operations at the facility were shut down immediately and police were called.
Roy adds that the loads were most likely from a hotel, restuarant or hospital, not from a residential area. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of death.
The body was that of a man, around 55 years of age. He did have his ID on him, but the name has yet to be released, pending notification of relatives.
