The presidential race between President Barack Obama and Republican hopeful Mitt Romney shifted tides after many analysts felt that the Oct. 3 debate between the pair swung in favor of the GOP.

The focus now switches from domestic policy to the intricate world foreign issues – an area in which the Obama camp feels Romney is weakest. Employing some tough talk ahead of Thursday’s Vice-Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was extremely critical of Romney’s take on global affairs during a press call held on Monday afternoon.

Responding to Romney’s speech at the Virginia Military Institute , the Obama For America campaign team organized the call featuring the analysis of the former Secretary of State. She was relentless in her criticism of Romney’s speech, checking the former Massachusetts governor on his flip-flopping stances and poor showing on the global stage.

“I watched the speech with great interest, trying to figure out what Governor Romney’s policies really are,” said Albright. “I think this is the seventh speech he has given on foreign policy over the years, but I think I came out more confused because he has changed his mind on a number of different issues, in terms of Libya for instance. I mean, At first he was for the intervention, now he’s against it.”

This was indeed Romney’s seventh speech on foreign policy issues during his campaign, and Secretary Albright continued to dog the candidate on what she viewed as a hollow and dishonest approach during a response to a question from MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell regarding the “two-state solution” between Israeli and Palestinian governments.

“[O]ne of the flip-flops of Governor Romney on – and something in terms of his inappropriateness during his trip, saying that the Palestinians were some kind of different culture, and lack of respect for them, and now, in this speech he’s talking about a two-state solution. I mean, he obviously does not track even the things he himself says,” said Secretary Albright.

Albright said that Romney was “dead wrong” on issues that effect the Arab world and also knocked him on his criticism of Obama’s trade policies, of which the President has negotiated and signed three celebrated agreements between Panama, Colombia and South Korea respectively.

President Obama will have a great shot at redeeming himself at the next presidential debate on Oct. 16 at Hofstra Univerity in New York. The focus will be on foreign policy where Romney has little experience. Obama, on the other hand, can point to numerous successes, including the killing of Osama bin Laden.
