Men can get breast cancer, too. Here is NEWS 92 FM’s Bonnie Petrie with more:

Most people think of breast cancer as a women’s disease, but men can get it, too. M.D. Anderson Medical Oncologist Dr. Rachel Theriault says it is quite rare.

Dr. Theriault says once a man is diagnosed with breast cancer, the treatment is familiar to anyone who’s fought breast cancer, including the removal of tissue and chemo and radiation and medication.

Dr. Theriault says the survival rates are roughly the same for men and women fighting this disease, taking into account when the cancer is discovered, but men often find out they have breast cancer when it has had more time to progress.

So if you’re a man, and you have a lump in your breast or under your arm that doesn’t go away, talk to your doctor.
