Congratulations are in orders for Newark, NJ Mayor, now Senator-Elect Corey Booker!  According to Pulse of Radio,

Democratic Newark Mayor Cory Booker won a special election last night (October 16th) for a U.S. Senate seat from New Jersey, beating conservative Republican Steve Lonegan with 55 percent of the vote to Lonegan’s 44 percent. The two were competing to finish the term of Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg, who died in office at age 89 in June. The 44-year-old Booker, who has a national profile and active Twitter presence, will have to hit the campaign trial again almost immediately, however, since another election will be held next November for a normal full term.

Booker becomes only the 9th black senator to be elected into the U.S. Senate and the first since the election of President Barack Obama.
