MYHOUSTONMAJIC.com — Houston Fit Family Expo is a one-day event that uses the power of radio to highlight health and wellness for families. Houston continues to be named one of the unhealthiest cities in America and we’d like to bring the community together to inspire each other to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Obesity continues to plague our youth; organizations and influential individuals are aligning themselves with the sweeping movement of events such as Fit Family Expo.
For example, NFL Play 60 campaign is designed to get kids to be active every day to play for 60 minutes. Michelle Obama’s ‘Let’s Move” campaign is similar and she also speaks about healthy eating, growing your own foods, and cooking together as a family. The FDA has even redesigned the food pyramid to emphasize more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Dr. Ian Smith is currently touring the nation with his ‘Super Shred’ initiative to get people eating better and exercising. The hit NBC show The Biggest Loser took a season to emphasis the family as a whole and the idea that a family that eats better and exercises together stays healthy together.
Houston Fit Family Expo will be a combination health fair and field day for the family. There will be education exhibits, testing and interactive physical activities for families to jump-start their healthy lifestyle change. We are anticipating over 20,000 in attendance.
