04/10/14 –

Dear Tom,

My mom is the oldest of six kids, has raised three children of her own, and currently has four grandchildren.  She has been in the medical field for over 33 years – starting as a nurse’s aide and has worked as a registered nurse since 1991 in labor and delivery.

She lost her mother to lung cancer in 2010 and it hit our family pretty hard. But instead of being down about it, she and I decided to focus our energy elsewhere -so we went back to school.

I am proud to announce that I will be graduating this may with an MBA, but somehow, my overachieving mom got done early and graduated this past December.

My mom really loves apple technology and she has taken a recent interest in how the iPad can be integrated into clinical workflow in the hospital to keep it paper free.

I am sure it was from one of her classes.

She tells me ways that the iPad is way better than the clipboard is for taking nursing notes, keeping track of meds and placing order results.  It can also be used in the O.B., in the ICU and for seeking patient information.

So, now that my mom is updated with her new degree in nursing, a new iPad is something I know she would really use at work and at home.
