Yesterday, thousands of  family, friends and supporters gathered in Normandy, Missouri at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church for the funeral of Mike Brown, the 18-year old young black man shot by a white Ferguson police officer. Among well known attendees Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, “Sean P. Diddy” Combs and Spike Lee, were the families of Trayvon Martin and Sean Bell. U.S. Representatives William Lacy and Claire McCaskill as well Martin Luther King III and Bernice King.

Emotional at times the grief stricken parents of Mike Brown, his mother Lesly McSpadden and his father Michael Brown, Sr., remember young Mike as a gentle soul. His step mother Cal Brown shared recent conversations she had with him about Christianity and death.

Al Sharpton delivered a message that evoked rousing applause of support for justice and self reflection.  Click here to read more…
