(CONROE, TX) — We love a good, heartwarming story, and this one fits the bill.

Recently, Samantha Gregory was shopping at the Conroe Walmart off Loop 336 when she noticed a couple of Conroe Independent School District police officers with a list.

They seemed a bit lost, so she offered her assistance and found out that Cpls. Wes McCord and Andy Riley were shopping for a fifth grade student.

The Latest News Headlines, Traffic and Weather:

“I saw a need and talking to him it just touched my heart,” McCord told the Montgomery County Police Reporter. “I felt like we could help him and that’s what we did.”

It seems the boy’s family was victimized by theft, which included the boy’s school clothes.

He was reportedly showing up to school every day in the same clothes, including pink ladies tennis shoes.

The family couldn’t afford to replace his clothes and just did they best they could, until the officers — with shopping advice from Gregory — stepped in to help.

“Whenever we delivered the clothes, he was like a kid on Christmas morning – just happy,” Riley told the Police Reporter. “That’s what we got into this job for, for our children.”
