Saturday morning defensive tackle, Devon Still found out that he was cut from the Cincinnati Bengals. Bad news to any athlete trying to make the roster of an NFL team. However, he understood the Bengals decision to cut him, admitting that he can’t give football 100 percent due to his daughter Leah’s illness. Back in June, the adorable little 4-year old girl was diagnosed with stage-4 neuroblastoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer and is undergoing treatment.

There is a silver lining of support in this story. The Bengals re-signed Still to their practice squad on Sunday, allowing him to receive a weekly salary of $6300. He also retains full medical benefits to help pay for his daughter’s treatment which can cost up to $1 million dollars. The Bengal’s rally of support embraces fundraising efforts to help bring awareness to pediatric cancer that involves the number of Bengals sacks this season. It is Devon Still and his daughter’s hope that through their struggle, they can help others. As a practice squad player, he gets to stay close to the game he loves, but with less travel, he also gets to spend more time with the daughter he loves. Click here to read more.
