(HOUSTON) — The wrecking ball that started the demolition of Wheatley High School has been stopped — at least for the moment.
Preservationists met with Houston ISD officials Tuesday night to hammer out an agreement on the fate of the school.
No decision was publicly announced at the end of the meeting, but one preservationist who spoke with our news partner, KHOU 11, said she was “ecstatic” to have saved something that her 80-year-old mother, Barbara Jordan, and Mickey Leland had walked through.
