Dear Tom,

My mom is my best friend.  She has been a single mom of two daughters for 24 years but she’s tough!  She grew up as the only daughter with three older brothers and two younger brothers.

Growing up, she made sure we whatever we needed to be the best we could be.  She worked long hard hours on the second shift at the hospital to put us through college.

She was a dietary supervisor at centennial medical center for over 30 years, but was forced into early retirement because of her failing health.

20 years ago, she was diagnosed with a rare disease called Gillay Barray syndrome. It’s an auto immune disease that affects the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord.

Since her retirement – she keeps busy caring for the 3 grandchildren my sister and i have blessed her with.  She also cares for her mother who has Alzheimer’s disease.

She’s had some tough times the past year.  Can you help lift her spirits by making her a Thursday Morning Mom?

I want her to know that she is appreciated but Iam busy with work, 2 kids and grad school.  She will be turning 52 on October 13th.  She loves to cook and shop – her favorite stores are Ross, Marshalls and Wal-Mart.
