(HOUSTON) — Apparently TxDOT does not check the Texans football schedule before deciding on road closures, and there’s a big one on Interstate 45 North this weekend that’ll be a major headache for fans driving to and from Dallas for the game.

It’ll also be a big hassle for folks who live in that area.

TxDOT is closing I-45 North this weekend in The Woodlands, both northbound and southbound between Woodlands Parkway/Robinson Rd., up to Highway 242.

The closure starts on Friday night at 9 p.m.. It’s expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

If you’re needing to get from the southwest, west and northwest sides to I-45 North, it will be tedious, but doable.

From the North Sam Houston Toll Way, head north on the Tomball Parkway (Highway 249) to Pinehurst. Then, turn right on Highway 149, head to FM 1488, take a right and go east to I-45.

From the west side of town, you can take Hwy 249 north toward Magnolia, and take Highway 149 to FM 1488 back to the North Freeway. You’ll hit north of Highway 242, which is good. If you use 242, you’ll still get stuck in traffic, as this is the northern edge of the road work.

Here is an alternate from Eastex Freeway: Go north to FM 1314 and take that until you hit Loop 336 West to I-45.

And another alternate from Eastex: Go north to FM 1485 in New Caney and go left under the freeway. Stay on FM 1485 until you hit 3083. Stay on 3083 until you hit 105. Then, turn left and go straight to the freeway.
