It has been confirmed that a 10th grade student of James Madison High School was stabbed outside of the school during an altercation. He then ran back on campus to get help. The school was locked down for a period as police looked for suspect who got away. It happened around 1pm The good news is that the student who was stabbed did not sustain life threatening injuries and authorities do have person of interest. Click here for more.

HISD released this statement:

HISD police and HPD officers are investigating an incident that occurred near the James Madison High School campus.

At approximately 1 p.m., a student was stabbed during an altercation that took place near campus. The student then returned to campus for help, and staff immediately notified authorities. The student has since been transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

Please know we take these situations very seriously, as the safety of our student is always our top priority. Classes are continuing as normal and HISD has notified parents of the incident. As additional details become available we will update you.
