The pastor of a Houston-area church as been accused of domestic violence.
James Wallace Dixon, 47, is charged with assault on a family member, a misdemeanor.
Dixon, who is pastor at Community of Faith Church in north Houston and was a Metro board member from 2004 to 2009, is free in on $50,000 bail.
Officials said the charge stems from an altercation Jan. 25 between Dixon and his estranged wife, whose name has not been released. The couple has been separated for about 9 months, officials said.
Investigators said that Dixon went to his wife’s home in the 5000 block of Bridge Valley Drive to drop off the couple’s children. His wife let him inside the home briefly but then asked him to leave.
Dixon allegedly pushed her, picked up their youngest child and went outside, officials said.
His wife followed and stood behind his car, apparently to to prevent Dixon from leaving. Officials said that Dixon allegedly grabbed the woman and threw her inside the house.
If convicted, Dixon faces up to a year in the Harris County jail and a maximum of a $4,000 fine.

I am a former member of Community of Faith.I left ONLY because I got married and I wanted to follow my husband. I am totally shocked at this story.Bishop Dixon is an excellent leader,BUT I must say that this behavior is unexcusable. He has too many people looking up to him to be acting this way.I do understand that we are all human and we will make mistakes, but by Dixon being a Bishop he has higher standards to live by.I pray that God delivers him from the spirit of anger, and I pray that “T” his wife can get through this, and I pray for the children, because this can have a damaging effect on them. Hopefully by now he has repented to God AND his wife.
Eventhough I am totally disappointed in Bishop Dixon’s behavior I will continue to support him in his ministry. We can not judge him for this, because we ourselves are not perfect

This is my response to my conversation with a friend. Out of respect for her I will not post her comments.
Gurl, it was all over the news last night. Each station claiming you heard it here first. They amaze me with that. I am sitting there like I heard it from Majic 102 already, yall ain’t the first. Chuckle
Yep it is truly sad the lives that will be affected by his actions. But as always there are supporters who will embrace him and treat the woman as though she was lying.
“Depart from me you workers of iniquity for I never knew you”? You are right, this is true, those people who are going against the Bible and practice their iniquities and lawlessness don’t realize that there are very tender lives of other people they don’t even know who will be affected by their actions on a short and long term basis. Hearing this just brought back some painful memories on my part. They won’t believe the woman, he will lie his way out of it and his lawyer will get him off. It happens all the time. We all know the judicial system is not fair.
I disagree with you that women will get angry at God because a woman with sense knows that the devil has his way of doing things. They always say that the devil made me do it. Yes this is true but when you profess to be a man of God, a minister telling others the what not to do right or wrong, you are to exhibit a higher self control. He is a demon and the real truth came out, he exposed himself. There are so many men out there hollering they are ministers and have been called by God when actually they figured out an easy way to be the center of attention. Get a real job and stop freeloading off believers. People want to believe in God and these former “pimps, players, etc.” pick up a Bible, put on a fancy suit and adopt a style with fancy words and rhymes that can convince folk of all sorts of miracles and say they have been called by God, ain’t nothing to them. Now Harry Belafonte said that on Kathy Hughes show and I agree wit him 100%. All you have to do is watch how they live. God exposed him. He, like so many others who slip and hide their dirt, sleep with this woman and that, slip to the next city to do their dirt, beat their wives, make babies that they try and keep a secret. Look at Jessie Jackson, he had a child outside of his marriage and it seems to me that he hasn’t lost a thing. Oh it is all newsworthy when it is fresh but a few “days” later everybody just go on like nothing ever happened. They sweep it under the rug, embrace the wrong doer and as long as their cause or need is being met who will care.
Like my ex, married five times, beat all of us, one of which her own brother said his beating her attributed to her death. That was pushed under the rug. I know of one other wife whom I looked up(we all lived in different cities that is why no one knew of his past) but I looked her up because when he beat me and tried to molest my daughter I could not figure the reason for it, so I went and found her and it is her own words that he beat her as well and she showed me the scars. Interesting, the two of us got together and attempted to confront him at a church service one night and he fled like a coward. The church stood behind him and Lord it makes me sick that he is on this program and that. He and the woman whom he was sleeping with before our divorce, the woman who benefited from the car I had gotten for us and he lied in court with his lawyer and took the car and left me with a bicycle and a newborn child, the woman who benefited from the job I got for him on my creditability are still together which gives him support to say that we were at fault. But no man and especially a “man of God who confess to have been chosen” should beat a woman. When you say you have been called is one thing but when you say you have been chosen elevates you to a higher standard. The Bible does state, “many have been called but a few have been chosen”.
Thank God who sits high and looks low and will one day have these workers of iniquity and lawlessness stand accountable. I pray for the victims, the WOMAN!

Wow interesting I amthe only person who have commented on this. Wonder why? My heart goes out to the victims of this awful act. I have had some dialogue with a friend on this issue, will post that later. Maybe somebody else should offer a word of encouragement to the female. But knowing people, they will excuse him, make excuses for him, and some woman will be warming his bed before long.

This is so very sad and it bring back memories of my relationship with a preacher. My husband beat me on a dark street one night because we too were breaking up. What hurt the most was the fact that the church stood beside him, making excuses for him in saying he was a man before he became a preacher/minister. But the Bible says when I was a child I thought like a child but when I became a man I put away my childish thinking. To me that says when you are a man you are subject to do almost anything but when you confess and profess to be a man of God you are to put on the whole armor of God and represent yourself just as God. God didn’t beat women. Watch what I tell you, he won’t loose a thing behind this. My prayers to the female and I pray she will find the strenght she will need to get beyond this.
These preachers aren’t doing anything but pimping religion. They hide behind the truth. And you know what, there will be another woman stepping into his bedroom before long. The thing I was with, we were not divorced and he had some hoochie choo in the church sitting on the front row. When I tried to bring this to the attention of the church they asked me to leave. We live in a very confused society now. Hypocrites they are. INDEED
