Fundraising and restoration efforts are underway for the historic Howard Theater in Washington D.C., which celebrates its centennial anniversary this year.

Located on T Street NW in Shaw, the theater was known as the “largest colored theater in the world,” established before the legendary Apollo or the Regal. It was the first full-size theater in the U.S. that was built for African-American audiences.
