The Texans now have defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a game with consequences, an historic first for the nine-year-old franchise. That’s one item — it’s a big one, too — they can proudly check off their lengthy to-do list for the fall.

Next objective? Beat an NFC East team away from Houston.

The Texans’ first road swing through the storied division proved a total loss. They dropped all four games and were outscored by 66 points. The last visit to mammoth FedEx Field in the franchise’s inaugural 2002 season ended with the Texans’ noses bloodied in a 26-10 defeat.

But today the relevancy of that outcome seems marginal at best. Not a single Texan remains from the game, so there are no lingering bad vibes. The slate is clean today.
