Anxious parents are calling clinics and heading to grocery stores to replace recalled baby formula. Similac has voluntarily recalled 5 million canisters of their powdered formula.  

Liquid formulas are unaffected.  

For customers who use grocery store loyalty cards and recently purchased Similac, they should expect an automated call or an alert on the next grocery bill about the recall.

Five-week-old Lia has used Similac powdered formula since birth. 

“I literally was giving it to her while watching the news. I felt like I was killing my child. I was like, wow!” Lia’s mother, Lesly Alfaro, said.

The new mom checked the can and the Similac website, verifying that her daughter’s formula had, in fact, been recalled.

“I was shocked. I didn’t know what to do,” she said.
