TurboTax has expanded the availability of its TurboTax SnapTax application beyond the borders of California to all U.S. states. The application, for iOS 4.1+ and Android devices, allows those filing simple tax returns (1040EZ forms) to submit their taxes directly from their handset to the IRS. Users need to take pictures of their W-2 statements, which the application analyzes in order to extract the relevant income data. Once users fill out a few more text fields, they may submit their taxes. The application is free to download and use, but TurboTax charges $15 for the tax forms to be processed and delivered to the IRS.
