Tremendous cloud cover allowed high temps to only reach the 80s on Sunday as most of the Houston area struggled to get out of the upper 80s. Galveston’s low Sunday morning was 75 degrees, only the second time this month the Galveston low temperature has been below 80 degrees.

The visible cloud cover came after heavy rain and lightning worked its way through southeast Texas overnight Sunday. Some areas saw as much as four inches.

Tomball recorded the most rain as 4.10″ fell in a five hour period. Other areas reported heavy rain fall such as Bush Intercontinental with a recorded total of 1.66 inches; Hobby had recorded 1.60 inches and Galveston recorded 2.08 inches.

Also in Galveston, just less than two inches of rain fell between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
