Rickey Smiley said he “felt something wasn’t right” in the hours before the death of David “Kidd” Kraddick on Saturday. He was 53. Smiley took to Twitter Sunday morning to talk about the loss of his “Dish Nation” co-star and Dallas-Fort Worth’s celebrated syndicated radio personality.
Kraddick reportedly suffered an aneurysm during a charity golf tournament for special needs children in New Orleans. His program, “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” could be heard on 75 top 40 radio stations from coast to coast, according to The New York Daily News.
“Kidd Kraddick was such a pleasure to work with,” Smiley said, on Twitter. “And was super funny.”
Smiley said the sudden passing of Kraddick coincides with a considerable period of mourning already at his “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” heard in syndication across Radio One stations throughout the country. Ms. Janie Ashley, co-host of the program’s “Church Announcements” segment, lost her son last weekend. Smiley attended the funeral for Ashley’s son on Saturday.
“I sat in one space yesterday, I knew something was wrong,” Smiley wrote on Twitter. “Irritated all day yesterday and was feeling grief. Please keep all bereavement [s]tricken people lifted up in prayers.”

Smiley, who observed the second season premiere of “The Rickey Smiley Show” on TV One this weekend amongst all this tragedy, said through all of this, he is spurred to keep his faith.
“Just thanking him for one more day, could have been any of us. Get right!! Tomorrow is not promised,” Smiley wrote.
“God move in mysterious ways, stuff like this keep me so humble and close to him.”
