Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young is dead from an apparent suicide. He was only 29.  According to the New York Daily News:

The actor was found unresponsive by cops at his North Hollywood apartment yesterday (August 19th). Cops were called to check on him after he missed call time on the set of the TNT drama Rizzoli & IslesTMZ reports a different story — producers from the set of Rizzolli & Isles called Lee’s landlord after he didn’t show up to set, and his landlord was the one that found him dead. Sources say that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot. Lee was best known for his role in the Disney series The Famous Jett Jackson.

Thompson’s manager Johnathan Baruch said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning. Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor. He was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.”

TMZ is reporting that he did not leave a note, saying:

Sources say that the actor did have a diary, but there are no details that would reveal any clues as to why he would want to take his own life. Sources also said that Lee was last seen on Saturday(August 17th) — and he may have taken his life that day. The site also reported that friends and family of the actor said that he had no major life issues at the time of his death.
