Band-USA(CROSBY, TX)– The Friday night lights are burning brighter at Crosby High School football games this year as fans get an extra dose of the red, white and blue.

Not many schools do it, but Crosby’s “Big Red Machine” marching band is going all out to show off their military-style marching at half time, said band director Kevin Knight.

“We’re kind of one of the last ones, but we’re proud of it,” Knight said. “And we play modern music quite often, but our marching style is very traditional military. And very patriotic. We love America.”

Knight said a tribute to World War II vets was so well received last year, the band is going to salute all of the armed forces for the entire season this year.

He said the band will play classics like “Taps,” but also newer themes like the march from the “Captain America” movie.  Knight said students will also play a moving tribute, the Navy hymn called “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.”

“We’re just going to add onto it every week,” Knight said. “We don’t want to spill the beans just yet. We’ve got a big surprise at the end of the show, but it’s going to be beautiful, one of those tear-jerker kind of pieces.”
