10/30/14 –

Dear Tom,

Dee-Dee is the mother of 4, originally from the Bronx where she worked as a special education teacher.  She moved down to Tampa over 20 years ago and is employed as a social work case manager and has fostered over 40 children since i have known her.

Five years ago, her son mike was going to do some serious time up in New York.  he called her asking her to care for his daughters – Maniah and Mikayla – otherwise; they were going to be placed with the child protection agency.

Dee-Dee’s husband gave her his blessing. She flew up and brought them down and taught them how to read, write, cook, pray and swim. Today, they are both on the honor roll at their school plus they attend church every Sunday and give back to the community doing volunteer work.

Unfortunately, her husband could not cope with having two girls and asked for a divorce. Dee-Dee is now raising them by herself, not to mention the foster children she brings into her home. She definitely needs some “me” time.
