11/20/14 –

Dear Tom,

My mom was born in Cleveland, graduated from Kent state in 1991 then moved to Pontiac, Michigan where she worked for the city for 17 years.  She was laid off in 2009 and then in 2011, she took a job opportunity working on the event planning committee for Fort Worth, Texas.

I know it wasn’t easy moving us so far away from family but she did what she thought was best.  I am 11 years old now and have been struggling with asthma and allergies and I have had pneumonia twice since we moved here.

My mom does whatever she has to do to make sure that I stay healthy – the medicine is more expensive here and co-pays are too.  I have to get allergy shots once a week and keep an inhaler in my backpack.

She has a lot on her mind as a single mother & she wants what’s best for me – so she placed me in a charter school in Arlington.  We listen to your show every morning on the app via Bluetooth during the commute and I don’t get out to the car until I hear the morning minute!

My mom misses her friends and family and we can’t wait to see them when they visit us down for the holidays.  They like to get away from that cold Michigan weather.

My mom likes to go swing dancing and do some karaoke singing in her free time.  She found a spa that she loves going to but she chooses to only go on her birthday.
