Congratulation to Oscar Award winning Jennifer Hudson who is set to make her Broadway debut in a revival of The Color Purple. The announcement was made today by the shows producers Scott Sanders, Roy Furman, and Oprah Winfrey. Jennifer will take on the role of Shug Avery which in the past has been played by Margaret Avery in the film and Elisabeth Withers-Mendes in the original Broadway production.
