Jacque Reid talks to Dawnie Walton, the deputy manager of Essence magazine about their decision to forgo a celebrity cover for the first time in 45 years and only feature the words “Black Lives Matter”, in light of the cases of Eric Garner and Trayvon Martin.

“The grand jury  not  indicting in those cases, it became a situation we could not ignore. It would truly mark an iconic moment in our history.
