cuba-hiv-strain

This is a new strain of HIV that is very aggressive.  I saw this story in TIME that said,

Researchers are concerned after discovering an aggressive new HIV strain in Cuba that progresses to AIDS twice as fast as the average strain of the disease. Because of that, people infected with the new strain — which is actually a mix of three subtypes of HIV — have a shorter window in which to get treatment. The strain can progress to AIDS within three years if left untreated, compared to six to 10 years for the average HIV strain.

Oh wow!  Make sure you get tested for HIV and know your status.
