Last week the world saw that racism is alive and well as evident by the video that went viral on social media of members of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon singing a racist chant. That chant was sang to the melody of the nursery rhyme, “If You’re Happy And You Know It”. It used the N-word and referenced the lynching of African Americans. Two students have been expelled from the university and the SAE chapter on OU’s campus has been shut down. Both students who were expelled have made statements but 20-year old Levi Pettit has done so publicly surrounded by a group of African Americans. He said in his statement that he is “deeply sorry” and that he will be ashamed of his actions for the rest of his life, Check out his apology, here

Sigma Alpha Episilon’s National chapter plans to put the entire fraternity, nationwide through intense diversity training.
