If you have a love for the outdoors or the the art of landscaping then the city of Houston has just the class for you. Through their STAR Yard Wise Composter Program you can earn a Master Composter Certificate. The class will offer in-depth instruction from experienced professionals, weekend field trips, and 20 hours of community service. By the end of the course you will be able to make you on worm bed, create compost recipes for specific plants, and of course help others to embrace the environmental benefits of composting.

The program begins May 14-May 17 and is offered at the Houston Permitting Center, 1002 Washington Ave. Speakers include: John Ferguson, Nature’s Way Resources;  Sarah Mason, City of Houston;  Andrew Jobe, The Ground Up;  Joe Blanton, Houston Arboretum;  Madiana Diaz, Last Organic Outpost; Bob Randall, Urban Harvest; Pat Greer, Pat Greer’s Kitchen; and Lora Hinchcliff, Living Earth Technologies.
