9 All Time Favorite Soap Operas (and the characters that made you love them)
I am in love with Tarji P. Henson! As her instagram tag says, she is a “single mother and doing the damn thang!” Just this week she won the Best Actress in a Drama Series at the A&E Critic Choice Awards, for her role as Cookie Lyon on Empire. A few weeks ago, I was also happy to see the stars of my new favorite TV show and guilty pleasure -EMPIRE on the Billboard awards. Cookie Lyon’s ( Taraji P. Henson) dressed SLAYED! And I was equally happy that they brought the show to life as artists Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollet) and Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray) performed a medley of hits.
Taraji P. Henson single handedly made me love Empire. I can’t recall another time in life when I have been so invested in TV characters. Aside from my affection for Scandal’s Olivia Pope, the last time I was attached to a lineup of “fictional” characters, was when I watched daytime soap operas as a kid. Did you have a favorite show?
