Sean “P. Diddy” Combs was released from police custody Monday night. Bail was set at $160K. The mogul was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon (kettle bell), and making terrorist threats. The arrest came from an alleged brawl with one of the football coaches at UCLA where his son, Justin, plays defensive back. Diddy apparently didn’t like the way the coach was riding his son in practice and confronted the coach in defense of his son. After that, all hell broke loose, though no one was injured. Both sides have very different accounts of what happened.

According to sources, UCLA claims:

“Diddy confronted strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi was on the phone. We’re told Diddy was told to hang on, but he wasn’t having it and picked up a kettle bell and swung it at the coach, narrowly missing Alosi.”

It is reported that Diddy’s sources say:

“When he [Diddy] arrived on campus, the coach would not see him and staff told him to leave, but Diddy went to Alosi’s office instead where Alosi told him to get out and threatened to call security if he didn’t leave. Diddy said, ‘Fine, I’ll call the police’…and Alosi snapped, going after Diddy with his hands. Diddy insists he grabbed a kettle bell and held it up in a defensive position, but did not attack with an intent to injure the coach.”

We are all familiar with Diddy’s prior run-ins with the law, but Alosi too has a tainted past. He is the New York Jets player that stuck his knee out and tripped an opposing player in a 2010 game against the Miami Dolphins. Not only that, but he encouraged inactive players on the sideline to assist him and for that, he was suspended indefinitely from the NFL. Now that’s dirty!

The question however, is whether or not Daddy Diddy’s actions hurt Justin’s chances of success as a member of the UCLA football team and as a student trying to fit in and find his way. College is hard enough! I guess we’ll have wait and see what happens once this goes to court in a few months. Read more here.

Rapper Snoop Dogg’s son, Cordell Broadus also plays for UCLA Bruins. He is a freshmen.
