This is starting to become annoying.

The famous “Be Someone” bridge over I-45 near downtown was vandalized yet again. The famous unofficial landmark was covered with black paint. Although the bridge is state property and is sometimes “cleaned” of its graffiti, whoever did this latest vandalism job definitely wasn’t trying to “clean” the iconic logo.

Last year, more than 26,000 people signed a petition to make the ‘Be Someone’ art a protected landmark in the city but the petition failed to reach its goal of 35,000. Still, hundreds of Houstonians have taken the slogan to represent something bigger than themselves, making the art part of their daily lives whether it be by T-shirts, caps or … tattoos.

Maybe the latest act of vandalism will spur more people to sign the petition.
