Fort Bend County Social Services Receives Walk with Pride Donation

Fort Bend County Department of Social Services recently received a $3000 donation from Texas Auto Direct for their Walk with Pride program. Social Services will be hosting the Annual “Walk with Pride Shoe Program” August 17. Registration is already underway for eligible school age children living in Fort Bend County who wish to take part in this event. Eligible children will receive a voucher that gives them the opportunity to pick out a new pair of shoes at a participating Payless Shoe store the day of the event.

The Walk with Pride Shoe Program helps to buy a new pair of school shoes for school age children of families whose income is at or below 150% of the Poverty Level Guideline. Each qualified child must be currently enrolled in school for the upcoming school year, Pre-K through 12th grade.

Donations are accepted from individuals, businesses and organizations within the area.
Shoes are purchased at Payless Shoe Source stores.
Applications are taken during the month of July at both office locations.
