This just in: Houston has a lot of really, really big churches.
Yet again, local megachurches have ranked high on Outreach Magazine‘s annual list of the largest churches in America.
Houston has three houses of worship in the top ten by weekly attendance:
1. Lakewood Church – 43,500
3. Second Baptist Church – 24,041
7. Woodlands Church – 18,332
And two others in the top 100:
76. Church Without Walls – 6,792
90. First Baptist Church – 5,862
Outreach also measures the country’s fastest-growing Protestant congregations. Texas has more of these on-the-rise congregations than any other state, including Silverlake Church in Pearland, Woodlands Church, Second Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and Clear Creek Community Church in League City.
