WHAT: Official public introduction of Harris Health System, the new business name for Harris County Hospital District.

PURPOSE: The launch of Harris Health System is a better name that represents the largest public network of healthcare providers in Texas.

The system name puts “health” in the center and applies to all of 44 healthcare locations including three hospitals, 16 health centers, seven school-based clinics, a dialysis center, a dental center, a specialty ambulatory center, five mobile health units and 15 homeless shelter clinics.

Harris Health System is the community-owned healthcare system for the nation’s third most-populous county with its focus on primary care, wellness and prevention offered through its network of 44 inpatient and outpatient healthcare locations across Harris County. Harris Health is a recipient of the prestigious National Committee for Quality Assurance designation for its patient-centered medical homes. The system is staffed by physician faculty and residents from nationally ranked medical schools, Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
