Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe has won election for Virginia governor, according to the Associated Press.

After a close race throughout the night with Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, the AP called the race around 9 p.m. CST, with more than 93 percent of precincts in. Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis will take nearly 7 percent of the vote.
