(HOUSTON, TX)–The Harris County DA’s office wants to remind residents that with every tax season comes tax scam season.
Assistant DA Amy Bolletino says unfortunately, when it comes to taxes, a lot of people are too over-trusting.

Bolletino says once scammers get a hold of your name and social security number it’s pretty easy for them to fill out a return and get away with your money. She says you should always do your research before filing your tax return and make sure you’re giving your information to a trusted tax preparer.
There were nearly 15 hundred identity theft related criminal investigations in Harris County in 2013.
