Racism is alive and well as exhibited by Donald Sterling, owner of the NBA Los Angeles Clippers, who was in the news just last week after allegedly making negative comments about Black people. The irony is that he owns a team in a sport where the athletes are predominately Black.

Just days after that hoopla, Boston Bruins fans showed the ugliness of racism in a sport where the athletes are predominately White. P. K. Subban, one of the few Black players in the NHL, is a defenseman with the Montreal Canadiens. He scored the winning goal against the Boston Bruins in overtime and some fans didn’t take to kindly to the loss and tweeted some very ugly comments directed at the hockey star.
