Fox is pulling the plug on ‘American Idol,’ ending a show that dominated television throughout the 2000s and made mega stars of people like, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Simon Cowell, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard. On Monday the network announced that ‘American Idol,’ with Ryan Seacrest as host and Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. as judges, will return for a season long celebration of the show’s history. ‘American Idol’ faded over the past few years, over shadowed by the other music competition genre show it pioneered by ‘The Voice’ on NBC. The changing of personnel and tinkering with the format, as the fell victim a outdate image and to me the talent fall off. It was a solid performer for the network that struggles in the ratings. Dana Walden, co-chairman and CEO of the Fox Television Group, described it as a ‘pretty emotional decision’ to end ‘American Idol.’
