“Avatar” actress Zoe Saldana found herself playing the role of peacemaker on Tuesday night when famed stage actor and “Star Trek” alum Patrick Stewart picked a fight while on stage at an awards show.
Stewart, who played Captain Jean Luc Picard on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” was being honored at the Glamour Awards Tuesday night. But he apparently became irked by the host of the event, comedian James Corden, who is the British actor, writer and producer best-known for creating the TV show “Gavin & Stacey.”
After Stewart, a presenter, berated Corden for standing “at the back of the stage with your hands in your pockets” and made fun of Corden’s “belly,” the two began exchanging awkward barbs. “You can see my belly and we can all see you dying right now,” Corden jabbed at one point, implying that Stewart’s antics weren’t getting laughs.
