Detroit teachers are angry and protesting the fact the school district will reportedly run out of money and teachers will not be paid the salaries they have earned after June 30th. This disruption in salary payments affects teachers who are on a 12-month salary plan.

Less than a month after Detroit principal Ronald Alexander was gifted $500K by The Ellen DeGeneres Show for his fledgling school, he along with 13 of his colleagues are facing federal charges in connection with a bribery scheme.

A nearly $1 million bribery and kickback scheme could land 12 current and former Detroit principals and one administrator in prison. Federal investigators say 74-year-old businessman Norman Shy is at the center of the scandal.
