Sugar Land, TX – Sugar Land police are on the search for a couple who posed as a waterline repair crew to enter a 76 year old woman’s house.

The female home owner said a man knocked on her door, located on the 800 block of Bel Mar, on Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. The man apologized for blocking the driveway and said he was part of a work crew that damaged a water line.

The man then asked his female partner who was waiting in a blue car to talk to the home owner. His partner repeated the story and told the home owner that she needed to come inside the house and check the kitchen sink for contamination.

The home owner walked the woman to the kitchen to check out the problem. While they were occupied, this gave the man the opportunity to walk toward the back of the house. He was not seen again.

The next day, the homeowner discovered jewelry missing from her bedroom, and the cash had disappeared from her safe.

The male suspect had olive skin, brown hair and brown eyes. The female suspect was petite and possibly white. She was wearing a head covering and sunglasses, aqua-colored clothing and blue gloves. Police are still searching for the thieves posing as a work crew.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department at (281) 275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477).
