Thousands of people turned out in Baltimore Sunday (May 10th) to see Prince in what he called a “Rally 4 Peace” in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray after being critically injured in police custody and the unrest that followed in the city afterward.

Prince has pledged that a portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to Baltimore-based youth charities.

Prince invited on stage State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, a Prince fan.  The tickets were a Mother’s Day gift from her husband, Councilman Nick Mosby.

Prince played the song “Baltimore,” which is about ending police brutality. He spoke briefly, telling the audience,

“The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life.”
