STIs are scary things, not to mention awkward to discuss with a new partner. Now a new invention could banish that awkward talk, though it won’t necessarily eliminate all awkwardness from the situation.  According to Elite Daily,

A team of teenagers competing in the TeenTech Awards have invented a condom, called S.T.EYE, that “glows” when it detects STIs. The condom has a layer of chemicals on its surface that are attracted to bacteria and viruses associated with many STIs. The chemicals then react with the germs to emit a fluorescent light that changes color based on the STI it attaches to. Condom designers say it would glow yellow to indicate herpes, green to indicate chlamydia, blue for syphilis and purple if it came into contact with the human papillomavirus. One of the 14-year-old inventors of the condom says, “We wanted to create something that makes determining harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors.”

Right now S.T.EYE is not available in stores and is still just a concept. Do you think this is a great idea?
